BASIC EDUCATION (BED) DEPARTMENT
A. FOCUS
The Claret College of Isabela Basic Education Unit is composed of Grade School (GS) and Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS), focuses on the integral education and formation of Basic Education and Senior High School students, helps develop their sense of self-worth, and takes interest in their personal growth and healthy interpersonal relationships. It also develops a set of values leading to right and responsible life decision among students.
B. OBJECTIVES
The Basic Education and Senior High School Unit of Claret College of Isabela aims to:
i. Enhance the spirituality of students/ pupils through active participation in liturgical activities;
ii. Engage the students in values-driven co-curricular and extracurricular activities and programs;
iii. Develop and apply knowledge, skills, information and experiences in making intelligent choices of career;
iv. Provide a balanced, comprehensive and effective capability building for the students; and
v. Leverage the role of the parents and the whole family as fundamental support in the success of the student’s learning.
C. DEPARTMENTAL GOALS
The Basic Education and Senior High School Unit of Claret College of Isabela aspires to meet the goals to enhance students on both spiritual and personal attainments.
1. Provide the learners with various opportunities to acquire the 21st century skills and the right attitude for the development of the country in general and their self in particular;
2. Promote equality and academic excellence for a diverse cultural population of students;
3. Prepare the learners for higher education by ensuring support in their efforts to persevere in academics and social responsibility.
a. Science and Technology Department
• Create opportunities for students to show the nurturing spirit towards nature and heritage of their people and community.
• Provide learning tasks where students apply scientific methods and processes in solving real life problems.
• Develop the critical, creative and strategic thinking of students through exploratory and inquiring activities.
• Provide learning experiences that lead students to assess the emerging societal issues and concerns around him/her and responsibly act on it.
b. Values/Religion Education Department
• Equip students with knowledge and interpersonal skills to build peaceful and harmonious community that appreciates and celebrates the diversity of cultures;
• Provide students the opportunities to connect classroom-based instruction with everyday life experiences and challenge them to reflect on these
• Initiate activities for interfaith dialogue to live out respect for the differences in beliefs and cultures;
• Create opportunities where students model simplicity of lifestyle and the choices they make; and
• Develop in students the value of human dignity to become self-integrating persons working for and serving others.
c. Mathematics Department
• Create opportunities where Mathematics becomes a tool in communicating for truth and justice about emerging concerns affecting to the community’s and society’s development and progress;
• Equip students with problem solving skills to be able to discern appropriate actions to be undertaken; and
• Develop in the students the literacy and skills related to numbers to deepen their understanding about the events around them.
d. Filipino Department
• Ihanda ang mga mag-aaral sa mga gawaing pagsulat at pagsasalita gamit ang wikang Pilipino upang mapahayag ang kanilang pag-uunawa at damdamin ukol sa katotohanang nangyayari sa tao, kalikasan at bansa.
• Malinang ang kakayahan at kasanayan sa mabisang pakikipagtalastasan sa mga taong kabilang sa ibang kultura upang malagpasan ang agwat sa pakikipag-ugnayan; at
• Maipasambuhay at maipataguyod ang mga natatanging kultura ng mga Pilipino na dapat ipagmalaki.
e. MAPEH Department / Physical Education and Health
• Provide opportunities that will awaken in the students the value of health and wellness.
• Initiate activities and programs where students’ performing arts and skills are tapped to the fullest;
• Develop in students an attitude and orientation to regularly engage themselves in either fitness exercises, sports, musical rudiments and dancing for healthy lifestyle; and
• Provide an avenue to demonstrate the traits of sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity and collaboration.
f. Technology and Livelihood Education Department
• Provide opportunities where students can hone their skills in effective home management, practicing the principle of reuse, recycle and reduce in the utilization of materials;
• Create opportunities for students to demonstrate effective and efficient use of information technology; and
• Empower students to become organized, systematic and creative in accomplishing tasks in the school, home and community.
g. English Department
• Hone the students’ ability in oral and written communication activities to equip them with the competence of breaking communication barriers and filling communication gaps;
• Develop global awareness and ability to collaborate, communicate and to address problems by instilling in them the 21st century skills(literacy, numeracy and digital skills);
• Provide learning activities that lead the students to express appreciation of their identity and cultural heritage, promoting Filipino moral and spiritual values through different literary genre; and
• Establish network and linkages of people through information communication and technology demonstrating socio-linguistic competence.
h. Araling Panlipunan Department
1) Bigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga mag-aaral na maipakita ang kanilang pagmamalaki at pagpapahalaga sa kulturang Pilipino at mga lahing pinagmulan nito;
2) Malinang ng mga mag-aaral ang kanilang mausisa at mapanuring pag-iisip upang matanaw ang kaugnayan ng mga makasaysayang pangyayari na naging daan sa pagyabong at pag-unlad ng mga bansa;
3) Maipamalas ang mga kasanayan sa pag-aaral ng kasaysayan at ekonomiks upang maiangat ang kahalagahan tungo sa pagiging mga mapanagutang mamamayan sa kapwa tao, sa kalikasan, at sa bansa o mundo; at
4) Bigyang gabay ang mga mag-aaral upang maging matalinong konsyumer at nang malinang ang kanilang kakayahang gumawa ng sariling desisyon lalong-lalo na sa paggamit ng mga likas na yaman.
